FAQs

Are all classes at Sp2 Kinetics™ the same?

Answer

No! Not all classes at Sp2 Kinetics™ are the same!

We offer an extensive schedule and times to suit you and provide 2 types of classes:

group class is intended for anyone managing chronic injury, general stiffness and wanting to engage in exercise in a small class environment. We draw on our expertise as physiotherapists to individually tailor and devise creative classes which are clinically appropriate mixture of physio rehab and Pilates instruction. To maintain the quality of education, and provide direct hands-on supervision, assistance and progression, participation is restricted to 2-6 people. Group class is a cost effective adjunct commonly used to reinforce and facilitate manual treatments and is aimed at individual recovery.

private/semi-private class is an intensive, solo or 2-3 person experience. Sessions may include a mix of physiotherapeutic techniques and/or Pilates instruction and make use of a variety of Pilates studio equipment, not accessible to group class. It is a fantastic choice if you are recovering from injury, managing ongoing pain, are pregnant or a new mum, or have specific needs including athletes with a desire to gain a competitive edge… and everyone in between, then you can be confident that individual planning and care goes into establishing each and every personal session you attend.

Before starting any class at Sp2 Kinetics™, you need to complete an initial consultation with our physiotherapist. This is a private assessment of your movement & physical capacities, defining your goals and establishing your program. As this is your first workout at the studio, be sure to dress in clothing suitable for exercise

What is the difference between mat-based and equipment-based classes at Sp2 Kinetics™ ?

Answer

Clinical conditioning and Pilates programming is based on physiotherapy expertise, evidence, rehab principles regardless of the type of class you attend at Sp2 Kinetics™. The key difference is equipment use. A reformer is the ultimate Pilates based workout and the most popular piece of Pilates equipment to provide resistance through range of movement. Resistance provides increased dimension and accessibility for individuals that require it or struggle with getting on and off the floor in a mat-based class.

What should I wear for classes at the Sp2 Kinetics™ studio?

Answer

Wear clothes that you find comfortable and are suitable for exercise.

Please note that, for health and safety reasons, wearing socks when using the Sp2 Kinetics™ studio’s reformers is highly recommended.

Can I claim my classes at Sp2 Kinetics™ through my private health fund?

Answer

Yes! Some classes are indeed claimable. Upon completion of you physiotherapy assessment and depending on your unique requirements, you may be eligible to claim your Clinical Conditioning & Pilates studio visits directly through physiotherapy or alternatively through a health management/lifestyle benefit with your private health fund. Check with your fund if you have the appropriate extras cover.

Our studio is equipped with HICAPS and should you prefer, direct claiming may be completed at the time of your individual appointment
