physiotherapy
– the techniques

Depending on the results of your assessment and the individual requirements of your condition or injury, a combination of the following techniques are used as effective solutions for your pain and physical limitations:

Sp2 Kinetics™ aims to provide a thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment and advice to individuals who may be experiencing pain, injury, limited function or seek to improve their overall posture, health and performance

What to expect:

Initial assessment will be 60 minutes

Follow-up appointments will be 30-45 minutes

Treatment times vary according to the requirements of your specific injury and condition

Please bring any relevant images including X-rays, CTScans, Ultrasounds, MRI and communications from your doctor- they are valuable to your diagnosis and treatment planning

When you book, check whether you should bring along any additional items including footwear, sport-specific equipment and bracing that you may currently use. This may be helpful in making a thorough assessment of any movement-related issues and they impact and assist your recovery.

You do not require a doctor's referral for physiotherapy unless your injury is work related; the result of a motor vehicle accident; a claim made with Veteran's Affairs; or if you qualify for the Enhanced Primary Care Program.

Education

It is the philosophy at Sp2 Kinetics™ to educate the client to ensure understanding of the injury, the plan of care, and the responsibility that the client should take to assist with their own improvement during the healing process

Massage

Manipulation of muscle and soft tissue to enhance function, accelerate healing, promote circulation and reduce pain

Dry needling

Therapeutic acupuncture needles are used to reduce pain, stimulate healing and restore function

Modalities

Heat, ice and ultrasound are commonly applied to control inflammation and reduce pain

Therapeutic exercise

Used to promote core stability and restore optimum function throughout the body reducing risk of re-injury

Taping and postural strapping

Therapeutic tape to reduce pain and to provide additional support to stimulate healing

Spinal decompression

Therapeutic elongation or traction of your spine to reduce compression on your discs and vertebrae

Therapeutic Pilates

Is an excellent approach to fitness if you are recovering from injury, managing ongoing back or neck pain, are pregnant or post-birth, or require an intermediary workout to regain fitness. Am I destined to be the next Hunchback of Notre Dame…

Just the other day a client approached me with troubling neck pain and subsequently asked about her hump- wondering what on earth it was.

Inspirational piece- My dad, his stroke…

This is my dad! I share this heartfelt and personal story as motivation. I hope it inspires all who may have experienced a similar situation with family or friends or perhaps you are trying to win your own battles back to health.
